Processes that affect sandstone composition

Sandstone compositions result from a complex interplay between provenance and factors that operate during the sedimentation cycle. Accurate identification and discrimination of provenance depends on isolating provenance-sensitive features and avoiding parameters that are influenced by factors such as weathering, hydraulic processes during deposition and diagenesis. HM Research Associates have developed high-resolution approaches that allow us to determine the original provenance-sensitive features and use them for accurate correlation and provenance purposes. These techniques also allow us to filter out the effects of drilling additives.
